Problem Statement

The existing product had a limited content structure, making it difficult for users to structure their information the way they wanted. This led to user frustration, high bounce rates, and low engagement. The challenge was to reorganise the content in a way that was logical and user-friendly, ensuring a seamless and efficient browsing experience for all users.

Design Process

Gathering important information about the existing user flows, key users and their needs to ensure a user centred design and intuitive user experience to support the product services

Needs and Problems

Needs
Problems
Ability to organise collections that a user has created
Ensure a seamless flow as users navigate between each level of organisation
Have multiple public profiles managed under one account
Easy navigation and simple user experience is required to ensure users are not overwhelmed
Invite users to a single area to collaborate rather than inviting to each collection
Owners need to be able to manage contributors easily as content can grow rapidly if not controlled
Allow multiple users to create new collections in a single area

User research

User research is an important step to understand the needs, preferences, and pain points of the target audience, via the use of surveys, user testing, interviews and analytics. Targeting users who are educators in middle and high school, qualitative research illustrated the need for greater structure of organisation for their content with the ability to invite their peers and students in the classroom. Quantitative research also supported the need to for improved collaboration in within the classroom, where individual students who can not create an account can create an entire collection, rather than contributing to one with their peers.
